Roaming Crew—Make Moments Beyond Miles

Your guide to smarter, stress-free family travel in Asia

The Roaming Crew family is enjoying vacations with kids and introducing their About Us section to fellow parents.

Hi! We’re the Roaming Crew. 🌿

A family of four exploring Asia with kids—one kid-friendly adventure at a time.

I’m Shivani, the mum behind Roaming Crew—a quiet homebody at heart, a marketer by profession, and an explorer by soul. I’m happiest in pajamas with a book and tea in hand, but something in me refuses to sit still for long.

I’m endlessly curious about people, cultures, and the stories that live behind every place on this planet. Maybe that’s why, even though I dread the laundry pile after every trip, I can’t stop planning the next one.

Our travel story began back in 2019, with our first trip to Goa, India. It was the trip that changed everything.

I still remember convincing my husband, Anupam, my calm, tech-loving partner, to go parasailing with me. I’ve always had a fear of water, but that day in the sky above the ocean, I realized something—when we’re together, “it’s our moment.”

That same year, we welcomed our daughter Aarvi, and a few months later, she joined us on our first family adventure to Vietnam.

From then on, traveling stopped being just about seeing the world—it became about experiencing it through little eyes.

We’re not just here to tell you where to go—we want to help you travel thoughtfully.

Aarvi, our 6-year-old, is a curious soul and a total beach baby. She loves collecting shells, chasing crabs, and chatting with strangers like they’re her long-lost friends. I still remember her at 2.5 years old—wrapped in a jacket, climbing Mt. Batur in Bali at sunrise, asking in wonder, “Who colored the black soil? ”

Our youngest, Aarav, is 2 now—the laughter and energy of our crew. He’s still discovering his world, but so far, elephants and animals have his full heart.

And Anupam, our techie dad, is the balance between my dreamer energy and his quiet practicality. He loves stories of ancient cultures and always finds something fascinating to learn wherever we go.

We’re not full-time travelers—just a family making the most of school breaks and long weekends. We usually travel 3–4 times a year, mixing short getaways within India with a couple of international adventures whenever schedules align.

Our small crew has explored 11+ Asian countries so far—chasing pandas in Chengdu, rolling strollers through Tokyo’s parks, watching fireworks over Singapore’s Marina Bay, and building sandcastles on Sri Lanka’s serene beaches.

But if we had to pick our favorites:

  • Vietnam has our hearts—it’s where we’ve returned three times as a family. From climbing limestone cliffs in Ha Long Bay to wandering Hanoi’s lakeside streets, it always feels like home.
  • Bali is my daughter Aarvi’s happy place—sunshine, waves, and lazy beach days.
  • Kyoto, Japan, is Anupam’s love for its calm, culture, and order.
  • India, where we lived for nearly two years with our kids, changed us the most—it’s chaotic and soulful all at once.

We’ve learned that the best family trips in Asia aren’t about ticking landmarks off a list—they’re about finding those places that balance comfort and curiosity. Where food feels familiar for little tummies, streets are clean and safe, and there’s enough breathing room for everyone.

We’re comfort-seeking travelers who love slow, meaningful journeys. We plan every detail carefully—not to be perfect, but to make travel peaceful for everyone.
We skip overcrowded buses for private transfers, choose hotels with family rooms and breakfast options nearby, and always make sure there’s a little fun built in for both kids and adults.

Because the truth is—family travel doesn’t have to be chaotic. It just needs a balance of comfort, culture, and care.

Before kids, travel was spontaneous—book the ticket, pack, and go.
After kids, everything changed.

Yes! It’s all become more conscious and thoughtful, as we have two little humans with us who need comfort!

Every destination needs thought: the weather, the food, the vibe, how stroller-friendly it is, and if there’s a play area nearby.

We learned that it’s okay to skip a popular attraction if it means more joy and less stress.
Family travel is not about doing it all—it’s about feeling present where you are. That’s all about us.

We’re not perfect travelers—we’re just parents learning, exploring, and finding meaning along the way.

At Roaming Crew, our mission is to inspire families to explore Asia with intention, heart, and curiosity.

We believe that travel with kids doesn’t have to be perfect or planned around sustainability to make an impact.

It’s in the everyday thoughtful choices—

Booking a homestay that supports a local family, choosing a tour that respects nature and culture, or simply eating at a small neighborhood restaurant—we plant the seeds of conscious travel in our kids.

As we feel…

You don’t need a special budget or a sustainability checklist.

You just need to plan smart and make thoughtful choices to make everything worthwhile.

And in this mission,

We’re here to help you create meaningful, kid-friendly adventures that are fun and enriching while also being kind to the planet and connected to local communities.

Together, let’s raise the next generation of curious, compassionate, and community-conscious travelers—

Let’s go beyond beaches and landmarks.
Let’s travel to connect.
